Mummification in Ancient Egypt
The special themed guided tour
6. 5. 2024 from 17:00 at the museum
Do you know the difference between natural and artificial mummification? What types of mummies do we know, and from what parts of the world? When and why did Ancient Egyptian embalmers begin to embalm the bodies of the deceased and prepare them for the afterlife? What did mummification look like, step by step? Why is it necessary to leave the deceased's heart in the body for a successful transition to the afterlife? What is the ceremony of weighing the heart, and what happens if deceased does not pass this test? Would you know what to take with you to the other side? Come and listen to an interesting theme. We will introduce you to our anthropological and Egyptological collection (the second largest collection of Ancient Egyptian mummies in our country) and the fascinating stories associated with it.
The event will take place with a minimum of 6 people registered for a given date. If the number of participants is not reached, the museum reserves the right to cancel the event and will inform the participants at least one day before the event.
